A good match between client and therapist is the key to a productive therapeutic experience. The client-therapist relationship is the foundation in therapy that promotes self-discovery and personal growth. Therapy is an underutilized resource that is often mistakenly believed to be used for extreme cases and not everyday issues. I would argue that therapy is an invitation to everyone, that is, anyone who is experiencing a personal challenge and is open to accepting support. Heidi Vazquez works with individuals and families who are struggling with a range of personal and relationship issues. Ms. Vazquez previously worked at Childcare Network of Evanston providing support to families with young children. Her work included administering developmental screenings for infants and toddlers. Ms. Vazquez also worked at Children’s Memorial Hospital helping children and their families cope with a range of medical issues and challenges; covering the Neonatal Intensive Care, Audiology, and Immunology Departments. Ms. Vazquez has a special interest in working with adolescents, new mothers, and families of children with chronic medical conditions. Heidi Vazquez received her B.A. in Psychology from Emory University in 1998 and her M.S.W from Loyola University’s School of Social Work in 2002. She joined Family Service in 2011 and is excited for the opportunity to serve the communities of Winnetka and Northfield. |
