Counseling and psychotherapy are collaborative arts where the client and therapist work together to define and resolve problems. Jointly we identify how the client contributes, both positively and negatively, to life and how to change what needs to be changed. People can benefit from therapy even if they don't have emotional problems. We all have times in life when we could use someone to help us discover and understand our life and make necessary changes.

Janice Wiley  counsels adults in individual, couple, and, occasionally, family sessions. She leads ongoing, confidential treatment groups where personal responsibility, honesty and the art of listening are valued and shared. Working with people grappling with issues surrounding ruptured relationships with spouses, partners, children, peers or friends, Ms. Wiley helps people learn to forgive and let go. She also specializes in helping people who are dealing with everyday problems like stress, poor health, loss or transitions.

Janice Wiley, who has been with Family Service since 1972, obtained her B.S. from the University of Illinois in 1955 and her M.S. from Columbia University School of Social Work in 1960. She has taken post graduate advanced seminars in group treatment, diagnosis, existential psychotherapy, family and marital therapy and short-term therapy. Her professional experience includes work in juvenile probation, school social work, a mental health clinic, mental health education groups and Loyola University continuing education courses.
