Attachment and connection, along with development of one’s identity and self are the core factors in establishing a healthy emotional life. Gains in these areas bring increased feelings of trust and security in the world, enhancing satisfaction in relationships and self-confidence.

For more than 35 years Kathy Fink has worked with children , adolescents , adults, couples and families as a  counselor and psychotherapist in a variety of settings throughout  Chicago and the suburbs. At Family Service since 1999, Mrs. Fink has expanded her clinical work into the community. She is a consultant at Sacred Heart School in Winnetka and teaches both classes in Character Education and the Red Flags program in affiliation with Erika’s Lighthouse regarding depression in children and teens.  Mrs. Fink has also worked with The Mental Health Association of the North Shore in getting a mandate for Illinois schools to provide Social- Emotional Learning programs in their curriculum, and programs that de-stigmatize mental health issues.  She also provides workshops for teachers, parents, and families on the issues of Learning Disabilities of children and teens and moderates group discussions on popular parenting books.  A current interest
is in  recent brain research which is giving great insight into brain function, and the connection between brain chemistry, behavior, and emotions.

Mrs. Fink received a M.A. in Counseling and Guidance at Indiana University in 1970, a post graduate degree in education at Johns Hopkins University, and a certificate of completion of the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Program at the Psychoanalytic Institute of Chicago. She is a member of the Illinois Counselors Association and the Learning Association of America.
