Therapy is a journey that the client and therapist share. The journey's destination unfolds as the client, with the therapist's help, shares and explores his or her internal world of unique stories, life experiences, concerns and pain. Exploration leads to self-understanding, which eventually leads to the change of negative feelings and behaviors. That process of growth and change is made possible by the relationship that develops between the therapist and client. A good therapist is a skillful and safe guide through the client's sometimes turbulent internal world. I am privileged to be able to join my clients on their journey to growth and change.

In his 30 years of practice, Dr. Mardirossian has treated an extensive range of clients with a wide-ranging array of problems. Specializing in the treatment of adolescents, young adults, adults and couples, Dr. Mardirossian has helped people suffering from depression, anxiety or low self-esteem; couples struggling with communication and intimacy; teens and young adults grappling with identity issues; and individuals caught in the web of internet addictions. He has served as Executive Director of Family Service since 1994.

Dr. Mardirossian received his B.A. in Sociology from Beloit College in 1975; his M.A. from the University of Chicago School of School of Social Service Administration in 1981; and his Ph.D. from the Chicago Institute for Clinical Social Work in 1993. To enhance his work with couples, he had intensive clinical training at Loyola University Medical Center’s Sexual Dysfunction Clinic in 2006. He is on the faculty at the Institute for Clinical Social Work, lectures at Loyola University’s School of Social Work and serves on the Social Work Examining and Disciplinary Board of the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
